Although my journey is quite self serving, I try to take time to remember why I am doing all of this in the first place. I want to change people through helping them to understand others, to appreciate and care for differences and find beauty in all the things that at first put us off or frighten us. I have made it my personal mission to be aware of myself and my reactions and to try to remember that everyone I meet is fighting their own battle, that they have their own path and story, and that ultimately everyone knows something that I don't.
So, it is my pleasure to announce my newest venture! I am having the wonderful opportunity to work with an orphanage in Bhubaneswar, India this coming Spring when I move there. A group of my classmates and I have organized communication with Asha Kiran Childrens home and are planning to help through fundraising, networking and actually implementing our initiatives to better the lives of the children in need. I will be working on projects at the orphanage, teaching english, helping set up and secure emergency funds and health insurance for the children as well as creating a plan for sustainability.
Below is the letter of intent that I wrote to local organizations to try to promote our cause and find sources of funding. Please follow the link to our Facebook page and spread the word for our cause! It is beyond appreciated and we cannot make this happen without the support of others.

To Whom It May Concern,
On the behalf of Antwerp Management School and the Masters of Three Continent Global Management Program, we would like to introduce ourselves and our intentions. It is our hope that we can impress upon you our dedication to augmenting the lives of the less fortunate generation living in India today, as well how you support would make all the difference in the success of our mission.
We are a group of Masters students focused on our global reach, both professionally and personally. Our program of studies focuses on international immersion in order to understand three distinct cultures and economies. We are currently studying in Belgium at the Antwerp Management School and will move to our next destination in Bhubaneswar, India in January 2015. A select group of international students within our program are inspired to make a lasting impact and maximize both our time and impact while in India.
A collaborative group of Belgian, American, Portuguese, and South African students have come together to make a difference, under the guidance of a fellow Indian classmate. The seven students will be residing in India for four months but intend to create relationships and a program to allow for our initiatives to continue to serve the children and orphanage into the future. We have made contact with an orphanage in Bhubaneswar, India who has graciously accepted our request to support and work directly with the organization and the children in need. In accordance with our inquiry, the Asha Kiran orphanage has provided us with a list of their most pressing needs and initivatives in which we can take to help. In order to have the most profound impact, we are reaching out to acquire funding prior to our arrival in India in order to be able to focus on supporting and implementing our initiatives for change. The list of initiatives that we are looking to accomplish include:
· Providing the necessary funding and organization needed to acquire health insurance as well as an emergency medical fund for the children
· Purchasing, delivering and setting up furnishings for the dwellings of the children
· Developing and sustaining a garden to be utilized by the kitchen of the orphanage
· Help create a plan and fund to purchase land in order to expand the orphanage in the future
· Aid in the education of English and vocational skills for the children with the hopes of teaching them how to support themselves in the future
· To play with and learn from the children in order to maximize the symbitoic relationship between the children and the students
Thank you for your time and support thus far.
Best regards,
The Project Asha Kiran Team
