Amsterdam is the go-to when visiting the Netherlands and rightly so. Streets lined with "coffee shops", canals and a red light district to write home about, it is a beautiful and fun place to visit. However, this time I chose to hop on a train to the less talked about, yet equally enchanting Rotterdam.
Rotterdam is a very cool city and home to some stunning avant-garde architecture & bridges, a beautiful waterway, concept stores with on-trend designs and fashion, and my personal favorite: the Markthal. This indoor market was opened in the beginning of October 2014 and is mind blowingly cool. The massive structure is part luxury apartment building, shopping center and gourmet market filled with stalls of all sorts of delicacies. I sampled some amazing focaccia, sausages, cheeses, fresh exotic fruits and the best donut of my life.
Have a coffee, roam around and please do not leave without one of the cream-filled, frosted, life changing pastries.
